The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to get official approval to travel to India for the ODI World Cup in October-November, according to a report.
The PCB has requested guidance on whether the national team is permitted to travel to India and, if so, if there are any concerns regarding any of the five locations for the Pakistan games in the letter, which is also written to the home and the foreign ministry, according to a report.
After the World Cup schedule was announced last Tuesday, the PCB said, we wrote to our Patron, Honourable Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, through the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, copying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior, requesting clearance to participate in the World Cup.
In Its letter, PCB also said, the Government of Pakistan has the right to decide whether to travel to India and authorise the locations where they can play their matches. In addition, the board also said they have complete faith in the wisdom of our government and will heed its recommendations.
They also mentioned in the letter that the approach that the Government of Pakistan chooses to establish and follow before directing them to the following stages is totally dependent upon the government. The government will be the sole authority to make the choice if doing so necessitates sending a team ahead of time to India to assess the venues and speak with the event organisers, they said.
The report states that the letter was written on June 26.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has also shared Pakistan’s schedule with the estate government.
Meanwhile, a security committee from Pakistan is reportedly planning to visit India to evaluate the venues before approving the national team’s travel to the neighbouring nation for the World Cup.
The government, including the foreign and interior ministries, would determine when to send the security delegation to India once the new head of the Pakistan Cricket Board was elected after the Eid holidays, according to an official source in the Inter-Provincial Coordination (Sports) Ministry.
He stated that the delegation is likely to travel to Ahmedabad, which will host the prestigious India-Pakistan match on October 15. The delegation will also travel to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai.
