The first day of Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn, earned over Rs 7 crore at the Indian box office. The film is a sports drama biographical film based on Syed Abdul Rahim, a football coach.

The sports film and Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which released on the same day, clashed at the box office. Maidaan appears to be lagging behind ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan at the box office, according to early estimates.

On April 10, 2024, Madiaan’s paid preview performances were held, and the show was met with positive feedback from all sides. On April 11, the film was released across the globe on the occasion of Eid.

Maidaan earned approximately Rs 2.6 crore net from its paid premiere in India on April 10. On its opening day (April 11), the sports drama is said to have earned over a net amount of Rs 4.50 crore at the domestic box office. Positive word-of-mouth appears to be benefiting the movie.

The film has made a net total of Rs 7.10 crore in India. Maaidan had a 14.56 percent overall occupancy on April 11.

Amit Sharma is the director of the biographical sports drama Maidaan, which stars Ajay Devgn as football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Between 1952 and 1962, he coached football in India and contributed to the country’s worlwide recognition.

Maidaan has been written by Salwyn Quadras, Aman Rai, Atul Shahi, and Amit Sharma. In addition to Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, Gajaraj Rao, Devyansh Tripathi, Boney Kapoor, Nitanshi Goel, and Aayesha Vindhara also play significant roles in the movie. The sports drama is produced by Zee Studios, Bayview Projects, and Fresh Lime Films.

Some fans made parallels between Maidaan and the popular sports drama Chak De India when the teaser was released. In response to these parallels, filmmaker Amit Ravindernath Sharma discussed Maidaan’s uniqueness in an interview. He said, people compare sports films as soon as they come out because they tell the story of a coach and players. People think the film is similar even before they see it.
