BJP’s IT Cell chief Amit Malviya was booked by the Bengaluru police on Wednesday for sharing an animated video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Twitter. The animated video was shared, intending to mock Rahul Gandhi and tarnish his image as a leader. Amit Malviya was booked under different sections of IPC in Bengaluru’s High Grounds Police Station after the Karnataka Congress leader Ramesh Babu filed an FIR against him.

Malviya shared a video on Rahul Gandhi’s US visit and alleged that he has been playing an insidious game that depicted him acting anti-Indian. After a while of sharing the video, it sparked a controversy with congress leaders hitting on IT Cell heads Amit Malviya and BJP for demeaning their party’s senior leader’s reputation.

Several Congress senior leaders hit out at Malviya for his misleading video shared on Twitter.

Congress leader Pawan Khera said more FIRs should have been filed against Malviya for hampering Rahul Gandhi’s goodwill. He further added BJP IT Cell has been held responsible for playing with truth, facts, people’s image, and the country’s reputation.

The party filed the case against Amit Malviya after seeking a legal opinion. There have been instances in the past, BJP got scared whenever they were asked to face the law. BJB had always a problem following the law of the land, said Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge.

He further added the FIR has not been filed with a mala fide intention. Congress has done it after taking legal advice and challenging BJP to face them legally in court.

Responding to Priyank Kharge’s remarks, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said that the case has been politically motivated. He also stated that BJP will challenge it in the court for justice. He also questioned the sections under which the FIR has been registered.
