The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested a 31- year old man for allegedly killing his co- worker, dismembering his body and hiding it in a refrigerator in South Delhi’s Saidulajab neighborhood.  Reportedly, the accused suspected the victim of having an illicit affair with his wife.

According to the police, the man identified as Badal Mandal alias Swapan Singra severed the head of Vipin Joshi with a meat cleaver and stored the body parts in the refrigerator at his rented flat in the same area.

Joshi and Mandal were working at the same restaurant and the victim went missing on October 9, till his body was recovered on October 15. Three days later, with a tip off from one of Mandal’s relatives, the police took the accused into custody.

The police said that Mandal, during interrogation, confessed that he planned to murder Joshi. He claimed that in a couple of instances he had seen Joshi visiting his house in his absence, which arose his suspicion on his wife.

According to a senior police official, Mandal took leave from work before killing co-worker and took a meat cleaver from the restaurant on the day of the incident. The police official further added that the two drank alcohol at Mandal’s flat before he severed the victim’s head. Following the murder Mandal fled to his in-laws house in Kolkata.

His cell phone indicated his location in a village in Purulia. However, Delhi police team arrested him in Rourkela. Badal was found to be in possession of fake identity cards and documents to mislead the investigators.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

BJP is leading on 30, while Congress on 28, INLD on 1, and Independent candidate on 1.

Congress MP Kumari Selja said, “As the counting progresses, the Congress party will form the government and we will win more than sixty assembly seats.”

As per the latest Elections Commission updates, BJP crosses the majority mark in Haryana, leading on 46, while Congress leads on 33, INLD and BSP on 1 each.

“These are early (trends). At one point, you will see Congress gaining (votes) greatly. I would say that Congress will form the government with an overwhelming majority. It’s just the third or fourth round, 10 (rounds) more to go,” said Congress leader Kumari Selja.

Speaking to reporters, former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that he was confident in his party winning the Assembly polls in the state, despite the BJP crossing the halfway mark as per the early trends. He further said that the Congress will form the government in the state with a majority and added the Chief Ministerial face will be decided by the party’s top brass.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor speaks on Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir election trends

“We have to wait and see. We shouldn’t make a premature conclusion right now. At the moment, they (BJP) seem to be leading in a majority of the seats (in Haryana) which is a genuine surprise. Certainly, the whole exit poll industry must be in a deep disgrace. Honestly, let us wait for the final results. My own feeling is that the signs in Haryana are not what we were expecting and are better than what INDIA block was expecting in Jammu & Kashmir,” Tharoor told reporters.

BJP leader Anil Vij sang ‘Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya’ during his interaction with supporters in Ambala amid trends showing his party leading in Haryana.

CBI files chargesheet in RG Kar case, says Sanjay Roy raped, murdered doctor

The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) has filed a charge sheet against Sanjay Roy in the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case. Roy has been charged with the rape and murder of a trainee doctor inside the hospital on August 9.

The CBI in its charge sheet filed before a special court in Kolkata said Roy, who was working as a civic volunteer with the local police, allegedly committed the crime on August 9 when the victim had gone to sleep in the seminar room of the hospital during a break.

The investigation agency did not mention the charge of gang rape, indicating that Roy alone committed the crime. The trainee doctor had been raped and murdered inside the hospital’s seminar room. Reportedly, she had gone to the room to rest amid her marathon shift at the hospital after midnight. Her body was found the next morning by a junior doctor.

As per her post-mortem report, the victim had been raped and murdered. Her autopsy revealed 25 internal and external injuries to her body.

The civic volunteer was seen in CCTV footage entering the seminar room at 4.03 am on August 9. It was noted that he came out of the room after around half an hour. During investigation, the Kolkata police also found the man’s Bluetooth headphones at the crime scene.

Roy was subjected to a lie-detector test after the CBI took over the case. IN the lie-detector test, Roy claimed innocence. He further claimed when he entered the seminar hall, the woman was already unconscious.

When questioned why he didn’t inform the police about the incident, he said he was in a state of panic after seeing the woman in an injured state. The investigation agency reportedly said he was trying to mislead the investigators. Roy had also claimed that he was being framed.

Meanwhile, the CBI has also arrested the former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr Sandeep Ghosh, for allegedly trying to mislead the parents of the victim and tampering with evidence.

The former principal had allegedly tried to pass off the murder as a suicide. Sandeep Ghosh also made the victim’s parents wait for three hours before allowing them to see the body. The CBI has also arrested a local police officer. Reportedly, he was also allegedly involved in corrupt practices, including selling unclaimed corpses.
