The price of diesel has increased by Rs 25 for bulk customers in India. The reason for the surge in diesel prices is the rise in international crude oil prices by 40 percent amid the ongoing Russia Ukraine war. However, the prices of petrol and diesel have been on freeze for a record 136 days.
Petrol pump sales surged by a fifth in March 2022, as bulk users such as bus fleet operators and shopping center operators, among others, purchased fuel in retail rather than purchasing directly from oil firms. As a result, private merchants such as Nayara Energy, Jio-BP, and Shell have gone out of business.
Earlier, there were speculations, that the fuel prices may increase by Rs 15-20 as the result of the election are declared. Following the recent hike in diesel prices for bulk consumers, one litre of fuel costs Rs 122.05 in Mumbai, up Rs 25 from the previous price of Rs 94.14 in India’s financial capital.
Diesel prices for bulk users in the national capital Delhi have been raised by Rs 25 to Rs 115 per litre. For regular customers, the fuel is currently retailing at Rs 86.67 per litre at the petrol pump.
