BJP slams Rahul Gandhi for travelling to Vietnam just days after Manmohan Singh’s death

The BJP today slammed Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for allegedly travelling to Vietnam to usher in the New Year just days after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s death, saying he insulted and abused the late Congress leader. These allegations came in the wake of the Congress’s claim that the Central government insulted Manmohan Singh by not cremating him at a spot earmarked for his memorial.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that while the country is mourning Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s demise, Rahul Gandhi has flown abroad to bring in the New Year even as the nation observes seven days of mourning. He added that Congress doesn’t care for Dr Manmohan Singh. He claimed that the grand old party abused and insulted him during his lifetime, and continues to do so now.

He said that yesterday nobody went to collect his ashes. He claimed that Congress denied the Bharat Ratna to Dr Manmohan Singh, and that is their true face. However, the Congress clarified that the party’s leaders didn’t accompany the family during the ashes immersion because they wanted to accord privacy to the bereaved relatives of the leader.

The BJP spokesperson further claimed that Rahul Gandhi has changed the meaning of LoP from Leader of Opposition to Leader of ‘paryatan’ (tourism) and Leader of the party. At a time when the country is in grief over the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi has left for tourism and party, as per media reports, he continued.

Shehzad Poonawalla said that Rahul Gandhi and tourism is nothing new. He said that at a time when the 26/11 attack happened in Mumbai, he was partying all night, adding that he is not concerned about the demise of Dr Manmohan Singh.

Furthermore, BJP leader Amit Malviya also stated that Rahul Gandhi had flown to Vietnam when the country was in mourning. He stated that while the country is mourning former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s demise, Rahul Gandhi has flown to Vietnam to ring in the New Year.

Amit Malviya claimed that Rahul Gandhi politicised and exploited Dr Singh’s death for his expedient politics but his contempt for him is unmissable. He claimed that the Gandhis and the Congress hate the Sikhs. Never forget that Indira Gandhi desecrated the Darbar Sahib, he continued.

Farmers slam Diljit Dosanjh, PM Modi meeting, says singer-actor should have come to protest site

Diljit Dosanjh’s recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sparked outrage among farmers, who are questioning the Punjabi singer-actor’s commitment to their cause. Dosanjh met PM Modi on January 1, and described the meeting as a fantastic start to the New Year.

Nonetheless, the protesting farmer leaders expressed disappointment, suggesting that Diljit Dosanjh’s actions contradicted his earlier vocal support for the farmers movement.

Speaking to the media, a farmer leader at the Shambu border said that if Diljit truly cared about farmers, he would have come and joined them in solidarity with Jagjit Dallewal at Sambhu Border, listened to their concerns, and stood by his earlier statements. The leader added that meeting PM Modi raises doubts about the singer’s intentions.

The farmers echoed that their struggle will continue until their demands are met. A prominent farmer leader, Jagjit Dallewal has been on a hunger strike for 38 days, as part of an ongoing agitation demanding the legalisation of Minimum Support Price (MSP) through new legislation. Additionally, thousands of farmers, accompanied by hundreds of tractor-trolleys, have gathered at the Khanauri site to support Dallewal.

After meeting the Prime Minister, Diljit Dosanjh expressed on X that this has been a fantastic start to 2025. He added that he had a very memorable meeting with PM Narendra Modi, mentioning that they talked about a lot of things including music. He also shared some pictures of his meeting with the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi also took to X and shared a glimpse of his meeting with the actor-singer. He said that he had a great interaction with Diljit Dosanjh. He added that the actor-singer is truly multifaceted, blending talent and tradition. He mentioned that they connected over music, culture and more.

Notably, this was Diljit Dosanjh’s first meeting with PM Modi. The actor-singer recently concluded his months-long pan-India Dil-Luminati tour.

Virat Kohli poised for India Test captaincy return amid Rohit Sharma’s uncertain future

Rohit viart captaincy

Virat Kohli could be making a return to the role of India’s Test captain, according to reports, as the future of Rohit Sharma as the team’s leader hangs in the balance following mounting criticism over his recent performances and leadership.

Rohit, who has struggled with the bat and faced intense scrutiny after India’s recent home Test series loss to New Zealand, is expected to step away from the Test team after the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. While a full retirement isn’t immediately on the cards, reports suggest that he may not feature in India’s Test plans moving forward.

Kohli, who stepped down from the captaincy after leading India in 68 Tests, could be brought back to steer the team. The former captain remains India’s most successful in the format, with 40 Test victories to his name, and was pivotal in India’s historic series win in Australia in 2018-19. His leadership credentials and record of success could make him the ideal candidate to reclaim the captaincy, especially as selectors may not fully trust the younger generation to take on the captaincy mantle.

Rohit’s uncertain future adds to the current uncertainty within the team, with reports indicating that he may miss the upcoming series-deciding Test against Australia, which is set to begin in Sydney on Friday. This uncertainty prompted questions about his place in the squad.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir addressed the situation at a press conference, confirming that the final decision on the playing XI would be made after evaluating the pitch conditions on match day. “Everything is fine with Rohit and I don’t think it’s anything traditional,” Gambhir said, reassuring fans about Rohit’s fitness. “We are going to have a look at the wicket and finalize (the team) tomorrow.”

When asked about the possibility of Rohit playing in Sydney, Gambhir reiterated, “The answer remains the same,” suggesting that a decision would only be made closer to the match.

As the cricketing world waits for clarity, Kohli’s potential return to the captaincy is creating buzz, with many hopeful that the former leader can bring India back to its winning ways in Test cricket.

BJP, AAP ignite poster war with accusations of voter fraud and temple demolitions

Arvind Kejriwal says BJP started Operation Jhaadu to crush AAP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have intensified their war of words through posters and public statements as the Delhi assembly elections draw closer. The BJP has accused AAP of voter fraud, while AAP has hit back, alleging the BJP’s complicity in temple demolitions.

The BJP released a poster targeting AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that fraudulent voter entries were registered at a single address without the homeowner’s consent. The entries reportedly included individuals aged 40 to 80. BJP leaders labeled this as “a new strategy by Kejriwal to manipulate votes.”

In response, Arvind Kejriwal took to social media to accuse the BJP of double standards, particularly regarding its stance on religion. He argued that while BJP opposes honorariums for religious leaders, it also authorizes temple demolitions under the Lieutenant Governor’s (LG) directive.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi elaborated on the issue, alleging that the BJP-led central government had bypassed the elected Delhi government by empowering the LG to make decisions about temple demolitions. She stated that on November 22, the Religious Committee approved the demolition of several temples, including those in West Patel Nagar, Dilshad Garden, Sultanpuri, and a Buddhist temple in Sundar Nagari.

“The BJP claims to protect Hinduism but is actively destroying temples,” Atishi said at a press conference.

The BJP countered these claims by highlighting unfulfilled promises by the AAP government. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized Mr. Kejriwal for failing to deliver on issues such as water quality, women’s safety, slum rehabilitation, pollution control, and cleaning the Yamuna River.

“Instead of addressing these pressing issues, Kejriwal has focused on political theatrics,” Trivedi stated.

MP Praveen Khandelwal added to the criticism, calling AAP’s recent announcements, such as honorariums for religious leaders, a hollow strategy to gain votes. “The Delhi treasury is empty, and Kejriwal’s announcements are nothing more than electoral stunts,” he remarked.

With weeks to go before the polls, both parties are leveraging every opportunity to sway voters, setting the stage for a heated electoral battle in the capital.
