Two Hizbul militants killed, one arrested during encounter in J&K’s Kulgam district

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A team of Indian Army officials sealed off a village in Khudwani area of the Valley at around 3 AM, on Monday, and opened fire at the terrorists

In yet another encounter with security forces, two alleged Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were gunned down in Khudwani village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The security forces have also managed to arrest an over-ground worker (OGW) belonging to the same outfit after the encounter.

It is learnt that a team of Indian Army officials sealed off an area in Khudwani at around 3 AM after receiving a tip off about the presence of Hizbul terrorists. Sources said that the militants fired at the forces first.

In retaliatory fire by the joint encounter team of the Army, paramilitary units and J&K police, two terrorists – identified as Dawood Ahmed Ali and Shaiyar Ahmed Wani – were killed while Arief Sofi was later arrested. According to the officials, the militants were a part of the Altaf Kachru faction of Hizbul Mujahideen which operates in the Anantnag and Kulgam belt of the Valley. Dawood was reportedly involved in the Arwani bank robbery and also in the murder of a village ‘sarpanch’.

Security forces have recovered an AK-47 and an INSAS rifle from the site of the encounter.

Earlier on Sunday, two terrorists were killed and another caught alive during an encounter at Barbugh village in the Shopian district of Kashmir. According to the police, the arrested terrorist who has been identified as Adil (17) had joined the Hizbul Mujahideen group in May. His arrest marks as the first arrest of a militant during an encounter in south Kashmir in recent years.

As reported by NDTV, Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police, Munir Khan said, “Last time when I came here I told the police that we should give a chance to those who want to surrender.”

The recent encounters coincide with Union home minister Rajnath Singh’s ongoing four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir in an attempt to “interact with delegations from different sections of the society.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Villagers from Gujarat’s Patan district allegedly attacked a Dalit boy and chopped off his uncle’s thumb after his nephew picked up a cricket ball during a match at school playground on Sunday.

The boy, who was watching a cricket match, picked up the ball, to which the accused allegedly got angry and beat up the boy. He also humiliated and threatened the boy.

When the victim’s uncle, Dhiraj Parmar, raised his voice against the insult, the matter got settled but later that evening, a group of seven men armed with sharp weapons allegedly assaulted the complainant Dhiraj and his brother Kirti.

One of the accused chopped off Kirti’s thumb and injured him seriously. An FIR was registered under sections 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons), 506 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act).

Discrimination based on caste is a significant issue in India which is illegal under law. The discrimination is mostly because of inequality and a lack of proper education about the harmful impacts of caste discrimination.

It’s crucial that people of this country and the government unitedly tackle and eradicate caste-based discrimination by educating people, enforcing laws, and addressing inequalities that contribute to such discrimination. Every individual deserves respect and equal treatment, regardless of their caste or social status.

It is unfortunate that the most weaker people in any society are often targets of violence.
Sadly, even in the twenty-first century, Indian society believes in a caste system as a prominent part of their society and to eliminate this caste issue in India, the young and the modern generation of our country need to understand the value of equality.
