Jharkhand Election Results 2019: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress alliance crossed the majority mark in the 81-member assembly. With its lead in 42 seats, the partners appear to be on the road to forming the government in Jharkhand.
The BJP, the single largest party so far, is leading in 28 seats.
Hemant Soren, the opposition’s chief ministerial face, is trailing in Dumka, but leading in Barhait, according to the Election Commission. The incumbent chief minister Raghubar Das, who is seeking a sixth chief ministerial term, is leading in Jamshedpur East against his former party colleague and rebel Saryu Rai, who contested the election independently.
Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and All Jharkhand Students’ Union, the BJP’s long-time allies had decided to go alone this time. The five-phased election began on November 30.

12:40 am: CM Raghubar Das is now trailing independent candidate Saryu Rai by 771 votes in Jamshedpur East.
12:30 pm: JMM candidate and opposition’s chief ministerial candidate Hemant Soren has finally secured a lead from Dumka seat against BJP’s Lois Marandi while simultaneously maintaining a lead in Barhait seat.
12:10 pm: The opposition tripartite of JMM-Congress-RJD crossed the majority mark with its lead in 42 seats.
9:55 am: Incumbent Chief Minister Raghubar Das is leading by 1,107 votes from Jamshedpur East seat. Meanwhile, Hemant Soren is trailing behind Minister Louis in Dumka seats, by more than 8,000 votes even is leading with a decent margin in Barhait, Jharkhand.
9:40 am: Opposition Chief Ministerial candidate Hemant Soren is trailing in both Dumka and Barhait.
9:36 am: The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party is ahead in 31 seats while the Opposition tripartite alliance, led by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is leading in 37 seats. Former allies of BJP, All Jharkhand Students’ Union and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha are ahead in three and four seats respectively.
9:30 am: Opposition chief ministerial candidate Hemant Soren from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is leading from Dumka, while he trails from Barhait. Both reserved seats are considered JMM strongholds.
9:10 am: As per early trends, incumbent Chief Minister Raghubar Das is trailing in Jamshedpur East seat. Das contested against his party’s rebel Saryu Rai.
9:00 am: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and the Chief Ministerial candidate of the opposition coalition Hemant Soren is leading from Dumka. Soren is contesting against BJP’s Lois Marandi.
8:47 am: Congress state unit chief Rameshwar Oraon is leading from Oraon reserved seat. He is contesting against BJP’s Sukhdev Bhagat, who was a former state Congress chief.
