The ruling alliance of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Congress and Shiv Sena replaced BJP’s Kalidas Kolambkar with NCP’s Dilip Walse Patil as the pro-tem speaker ahead of the trust vote. According to the tradition of the house, a trust vote is to be held after a speaker is elected through a secret ballot.
The BJP has fielded Kisan Kathore for the Speaker’s position and challenged the ruling alliance to show its strength by holding secret-ballot to elect the Speaker.
