Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

A video is doing rounds on the internet wherein Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mistakenly addressed Home Minister Amit Shah as the Prime Minister of India.

The video was shared by Assam Congress on Twitter. The party took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party and argued that when Sarbananda Sonowal was the chief minister of the state, MP Pallab Lochan Das referred to Himanta Biswa as the CM in public. Congress further wrote if the BJP has decided to launch Amit Shah as the new Prime Minister of India.

In the viral video, Sarma can be heard speaking in Assamese and welcoming the Union Home Minister Prime Minister Amit Shah and Home Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the public during a public meeting at the Veterinary College Playground at Khanapara in Guwahati to mark the completion of a year of the BJP-led government in the state earlier on Tuesday in the presence of the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah.

In surprise move, Ashok Gehlot invites Gautam Adani to Invest Rajasthan Summit

Amit Malviya wrote on Twitter that it was another sign of revolt and brewing discontent against the Gandhis. He was given a seat right next to the CM. This was an open message to Rahul Gandhi, who doesn’t tire of berating Adani-Ambani, to back off.

Amid a political fight for the president post in Congress, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today invited famous businessman and Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani to Invest Rajasthan Summit in Jaipur. The BJP called it a sign of revolt within the party.

Senior BJP leader Amit Malviya wrote on Twitter that it was another sign of revolt and brewing discontent against the Gandhis. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot invited Gautam Adani to the investor summit. He was given a seat right next to the CM. This was an open message to Rahul Gandhi, who doesn’t tire of berating Adani-Ambani, to back off.

Addressing the investment summit, Gautam Adani said that the Adani Group invested over Rs 35,000 crore across multiple industrial sectors in Rajasthan. Continuing their investment in the renewable business, another 10,000 MW with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore was under implementation.

Gautam Adani also promised that they would give full cooperation in the construction of a cricket stadium in Udaipur. They also discussed which districts in the state did not have a medical college, and how they could help the state in this direction

He further said that combining all ongoing and future investments, they anticipated investing an additional Rs 65,000 Crore in Rajasthan over the next five to seven years and creating over 40,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Nearly three weeks ago, 82 Congress MLAs sent resignations to the governor. Reports said that they were pro-Gehlot MLAs and did not want to support Sachin Pilot as the next Rajasthan CM. However, Gehlot denied these allegations.

The Rajasthan CM also made a separate argument for the next Congress president. Supporting senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, he said that Mallikarjun Kharge has the experience to strengthen the Congress and would emerge as a clear winner in the party’s presidential poll. He further said that Shashi Tharoor was from the elite class.

Ashok Gehlot argued that Shashi Tharoor was from the elite class but the kind of experience which was needed to strengthen the party at booth, block and district levels, was with Kharge and could not be compared to Shashi Tharoor. Therefore, it would naturally be a one-sided contest for Kharge.

Bharat Jodo Yatra: Congress puts up Savarkar’s posters in Karnataka

Amit Malviya wrote that after Kerala, Congress put up Savarkar’s posters in Karnataka. It was finally dawning on the Congress that Savarkar’s contributions and worldview defined today’s India.

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar

The Indian National Congress is again in controversy for allegedly putting up freedom fighter and Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s photo in its poster of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka. Reports said that the poster was placed in the Mandya area of the state. It featured V D Savarkar along with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress president DK Shivkumar.

Sharing this poster on Twitter, senior BJP leader Amit Malviya wrote that after Kerala, Congress put up Savarkar’s posters in Karnataka. It was finally dawning on the Congress that Savarkar’s contributions and worldview defined today’s India. And it was Nehru, who was a coward, unable to take the hardships in Nabha jail, who wrote an apology to the British.

However, Congress MLA Nalapad Ahmed Haris claimed that this was done by miscreants and not them. They have filed a complaint in the Mandya district.

The BJP has publicised VD Savarkar’s ideology and promoted him as a party’s icon in the state. On August 22, former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa flagged off a Veer Savarkar Rath Yatra in the Mysuru region. The party also decided that Savarkar would be featured in Ganesh Puja pandals to propagate that he was a revered freedom fighter for the right-wing ideology.

Former Karnataka Chief Miniter Siddaramaiah had said that the one who pleaded (with) British officers to get himself released from jail, got a position in the front row. But, Baba Saheb, who fought for freedom by being the voice of marginalised sections, got placed in the last row.

This was not the first case featuring VD Savarkar in the Congress’ poster. On September 21, a Bharat Jodo Yatra poster in Kerla featured him in a line-up with other freedom fighters of India.

Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra began from Kanyakumari on September 8.

Mehbooba Mufti vs Kashmir Police Twitter spat after PDP chief claims house arrest during Amit Shah’s Jammu and Kashmir visit

During his ongoing 3-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assessed the security situation on Wednesday.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday engaged in a Twitter spat with Kashmir Police after the People’s Democratic Party Chief claimed that she was placed under house arrest during Home Minister Amit Shah’s Jammu and Kashmir visit yesterday.

Mufti claimed she had been placed under house arrest at her residence at Srinagar’s Gupkar Road and was not being allowed to go for a wedding in Pattan near Srinagar.

The police refuted Mufti’s house arrest claim and said she was free to travel anywhere. Responding to her claim after 40 minutes, the Police tweeted that there were no restrictions on her travel to Pattan. She herself had locked the gate from inside, the Srinagar police claimed in the tweet.

Taking to Twitter, Mufti said since Amit Shah was travelling to Baramulla, 54 km from Srinagar, in north Kashmir and addressing a public rally there, she had been stopped from attending a wedding of a party worker in Pattan, 27 km from Srinagar, she claimed in her tweet.

While Home Minister is going around Kashmir beating drums of normalcy, she was under house arrest for simply wanting to visit Pattan for a worker’s wedding, she said in a tweet tagging the Home Minister and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.

Mufti also said if an ex-CM’s fundamental rights can be suspended so easily, one can’t even imagine the plight of a commoner. She also shared pictures of the alleged locking main gate of her residence.

During his ongoing three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assessed the security situation in a meeting held with senior officials in Srinagar on Wednesday.

As of now, Shah has addressed a rally in Rajouri and will be addressing another public meeting in Baramulla today.
