Gyanvapi case: Supreme Court says alleged Shivling area to be secured, namaz shouldn’t be hindered, Varanasi court sacks Gyanvapi survey commissioner for leaking info to media
Three court-appointed advocate commissioners, five lawyers each from the two sides and an assistant besides a videography team carried out the survey.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Varanasi District Magistrate to secure the area where a Shivling (symbol of Lord Shiva) was found inside Gyanvapi mosque complex but namaz should not be hindered. The court will hear the matter again on May 19.
A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and PS Narasimha while was hearing the Gyanvapi mosque management plea challenging the videography survey of the Gyanvapi mosque.
After granting two days’ time to complete and submit the Gyanvapi mosque survey report, Varanasi court has removed the Advocate Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra, who was appointed by the local court for the video survey, from his post for leaking the survey information to media.
The court has not seen the report, the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the Uttar Pradesh government, replied and sought time till tomorrow to return with details.
Earlier on Monday, the local court directed the district administration to seal the area where a Shivling was claimed to have been found during the videography survey of the mosque.
Earlier in the day, Ajay Pratap Singh told the Supreme Court that the report has not been completed yet, only 50% report is ready. The commission asked the court to give 2-3 additional days to submit the survey report, he said.
After lawyers representing the Hindu petitioners, a local court on Monday had ordered the sealing of Wuzu Khana where a Shivling was found there in the Gyanvapi Masjid complex during the court-mandated videography survey.
Rejecting the Hindu petitioners’ claim, Anjuman Intezamiya Masjid Committee, said the object was part of the water fountain mechanism at the wuzu khana where devotees carry out ablutions before offering namaz.

A petition has been filed seeking a two-day time to file the Commission report, said Assistant Court Commissioner Ajay Pratap Singh.

As soon as the news emerged, former Union Minister’s son Karti Chidambaram tweeted that he has lost count, how many times has it been? Must be a record, he asked in his tweet.
The search team found nothing and seized nothing. I may point out that the timing of the search is interesting, Chidambaram tweeted.
The CBI has raided a total of nine Chidambaram’s premises across Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab, Karnataka and Odisha in connection with a case against the minister’s son Karti Chidambaram.
Reports said the probe agency has registered a new case against Karti Chidambaram in connection with the alleged foreign transactions that took place between 2010-14. It is alleged that Karti Chidambaram had wrongly issued visas to Chinese people by taking money.
The matter is linked to a power project in Punjab, in which the visas were issued to 250 Chinese nationals for the Talwandi Sabo power project in Punjab in 2011. The probe agency also claimed that Karti Chidambaram had received Rs 50 lakh as a bribe to facilitate the visa to Chinese nationals.
