Flogging is a tradition in Telangana’s Bonalu Festival
There is a tradition of whipping oneself in the Bonalu festival of Telangana. The person who became ‘Potharaju’ beats himself with a whip. Potharaju is the brother of Mahakali, the goddess of Bonalu festival, who wields a whip to protect the goddess. Potharaju is believed to be the brother of seven sisters with different forms of Goddess Mahakali. Rahul Gandhi also adopted this avatar during his journey.

Karate kid practices punches with Rahul Gandhi
In Rudram, many children learning martial arts were seen with Rahul Gandhi. The children were seen in a karate dress. Rahul called one of them and practised punching technique.
During this, a girl also appeared in a karate dress. Rahul Gandhi is a black belt in the Japanese martial art form Aikido. He was awarded the Black Belt in 2013. He also went to Japan to learn martial arts. He is also a national level shooting champion. Rahul is learning many fighting arts forms.
Rahul Gandhi sways on folk tunes
In another video shared by the Congress on social media, Rahul Gandhi was also seen performing the “Dhimsa” dance, a traditional folk dance that originated in Odisha but is now equally well-liked in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, alongside members of tribal groups.
He can be seen dancing with performers dressed in traditional garb to the upbeat beat of various musical instruments.
Bharat Jodo Yatra will enter Maharashtra on Nov 7
The Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana has covered a total of 375 km in 19 Vidhan Sabha and 7 Parliamentary Constituencies. Tomorrow i.e. on November 4, there will be a day-long break. The Yatra will enter Maharashtra on November 7. The Bharat Jodo Yatra started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7. The Yatra covered Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka before reaching Telangana.
