Two days after protests across the country over the suspended BJP spokesperson’s derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad, several Muslim groups have appealed to their followers on to cancel their planned protests.
A senior member of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said it is the duty of every Muslim to stand together when anyone belittles Islam but at the same time it is critical to maintaininging peace, the NDTV reported.

People from Muslim community have come out of their houses on Friday to protest against the two BJP leader’s derogatpry remarks on Prophet Muhammad. The protest took a violent turn, leading to the death of two teenagers and several injuries.
Taking action against the protesters, the police have arrested at lest 400 suspected rioters during unrest in several states.
Several have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the properties of the rioters have also been bulldozed .
Amid tensions in various parts of the country, heavy police deployment continues in the cities of Ranchi, Howrah, Prayagraj and some parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The curfews have been imposed and internet services were suspended in some parts of the country.
On Sunday, the house of student activist Afreen Fatima, allegedly one of the accused in the violence in Prayagraj, was demolished by the Uttar Pradesh government as punishment for the riots. The state authorities said it was because it was illegally built on public land.

The BJP spokesperson’s on camera statement on Prophet Muhammad had triggered a massive outrage in Gulf countries, weeks after her derogatory remarks. India had received a huge backlash from over dozens of countries.
Following outrage, the BJP had suspended its two leaders over their derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad. The party had distanced itself from its leader’s derogatory comments on Prophet denouncing any insult towards any religion.
Both the suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and her colleague Naveen Jinda, who were made controversial remarks on Prophet, are roaming freely even after FIRs against them. Instead of arresting Nupur Sharam, the police have been arresting the protesters who are demanding her arrest.
