[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Panelists feel that leaders who switch parties before polls are looking to grab tickets or posts
Political leaders switching loyalties, just as they get into poll mode, has become a common phenomenon. Ex-Biju Janata Dal MP Jay Panda has joined the BJP, Akali Dal’s Sher Singh has joined the Congress, and there are many such examples of Aya Ram-Gaya Ram in politics. APN’s popular debate Mudda discussed the issue. Anchorperson Neha posed the questions to panelists including the Congress’s Chandra Mohan Sharma, BJP’s NP Singh, SP’s Jitendra Verma, PSPL’s Dilip Yadav, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party’s Arun Rajpbhar and APN’s consultant Govind Pant Raju.
Chandra Mohan Sharma said:”With so many jumlas, people are fed up with the BJP. Their kisan yojanas are like pulling wool on people’s eyes.” To this, Singh said many former Congressmen are joining BJP. Sharma said: “Show me five villages in the country which have been satisfied by the BJP’s promises.”
Jitendra Verma said: “Those people change sides who are eyeing for a post of something, there is always some ulterior move behind that.”
NP Singh said: “Mulayam Singh Yadav has praised Modi in parliament, everyone knows that.”
Raju said: “Politics is like a career for many leaders, so they look for where they will be in an advantageous position. It is not Aya Ram-Gaya Ram, it is Kursi Ram–Kursi Ram. Before elections, leaders switch to get tickets. This trend is most common in UP.”
Verma said: “SP is not weak, those who treat politics like a job can leave any party to suit themselves. By leaving a party, the party does not get any weaker or stronger.”
Arun Rajbhar said: “We are not opportunists, we are here for ideals.”
Dinesh Singh Yadav said: “This government has been looting people and trampling on their desires. Where is the employment for two core people? Dalits have been exploited.”
NP Singh said: “BJP stands a good chance in Orissa, and BJP will gain with Jai Panda’s entry.”
Chandramohan Sharma said: “This government is a government of industrialists, and the poor farmer’s lot has worsened in the last five years. We got FDI, and the BJP opposed it, now what is the BJP doing? Now you only see Adani and Ambani flourishing. Arun Rajbhar should decide first which way his party is finally going to swing.”
Neha wanted to know if BSP will perform better now. Dinesh Yadav said: “UP’s farmers and women are with us. We are following Dr Lohia and Dr Amedkar’s principles and are looking at the interests of the backwards, and that is why Shivpal Yadav shifted his path.”
Verma said: “I am not going to comment on family politics. Over 25 BJP’s leaders have joined the SP. Modiji has failed the people, and now people will show that.”
NP Singh wanted to know why Akhilesh Yadav never entered Noida in the five years his party was in power.
Raju said:”There is no EC code regarding switching sides before elections. This is more an issue of personal probity and principles, both of which are sadly missing in today’s politics.”
