Football World Cup 2022

The second match of the Quarter Finals will a battle of the fittest between Lionel Messi and company and the Netherlands on December 10. The Dutch who initially trailed in the group stages of the FIFA World Cup are now looking hopeful after sending USA out of the campaign in the round of 16, however, the real question that arises is will their high hopes are enough against Messi and Company.

Argentina, on the other hand, has been keeping afloat as Lionel Messi continues to showcase his magic in what probably is his last world cup. Lionel Messi’s last dance has inspired the Argentinian team in keeping their eyes on the World Cup Trophy. In the round of 16 fixture against Australia, the Argentinian side pulled ahead as Lionel Messi found himself on the scoresheet.

Another talent that is taking over the headlines from Argentina is Manchester City product Julian Alvarez, who also scored in the Australia match which led to 2-1 win Against Australia.

However, the challenge now arises as Argentinian’s attack consisting of Lionel Messi, Jullian Alverez and Angel Di Maria will face the likes of strong and big defenders like Virgil van Dijik, De Ligt, Nathan Ake.

The contest between the two teams is anticipated to be a clash of the fittest as Messi, who is playing in the campaign like it is his last dance, is expected to step up to on the big occasion and make history. Despite their elite defence, the Dutch side can fail to find any end product as the Frenkie de Jong-led midfield hasn’t been consistent in rapidly transitioning the defence to attack for the Dutch.

On the attacking end, Barcelona’s Memphis Depay hasn’t been able to get enough playing time in for the club, owing to him being plagued by injuries. The star-striker Depay, who is known for his quick feet, will now go against Lisandro Martinez-led defence, who is known to leave everything out on the field.

The battle between the Netherlands and Argentina will be a riveting as the match will render out the fittest out of the two and find their place in the Semi-Final.

Defending champions Argentina kicked off their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion, defeating Algeria 3-0 in their Group J opener with Lionel Messi producing a memorable hat-trick.

The Argentine captain once again proved decisive on the biggest stage, scoring all three goals as his side secured maximum points and sent an early warning to the rest of the tournament contenders.

Messi opened the scoring in the first half before adding two more goals after the break to complete his hat-trick. His performance ensured Argentina remained in control throughout the contest and rarely looked troubled by the Algerian side.

The victory was particularly significant as it came in Messi’s landmark 200th international appearance for Argentina. The veteran forward marked the occasion in style, delivering one of the standout individual displays of the tournament so far.

Argentina dominated possession and created the better opportunities throughout the match, while Algeria struggled to find a way past a disciplined Argentine defence. The reigning world champions combined defensive solidity with attacking quality to comfortably secure the result.

The win gives Argentina an ideal start in Group J, where they will next face Austria. Algeria, meanwhile, will look to bounce back when they take on Jordan in their second group-stage fixture.
