In the year 2000, Abhishek Bachchan made his screen debut in the film Refugee. But Amitabh Bachchan’s son found it difficult to break into the entertainment industry prior to landing director JP Dutta’s film.

Abhishek recalled this in a recent interview, adding that no one wished to be in charge of Amitabh Bachchan’s son’s launch. Not only that, but the Ghoomer actor revealed that, prior to making his acting debut, the Bachchan family was going through a difficult period. As a result, he went to India from college in the US to be with his father.

During a recent interview, he said, for Filmfare, the actors used to arrange your outfit months in advance 20 years ago. They had to buy their own clothes back then since no one was giving them out for free. The whole industry would be there, even if they weren’t nominated, so they would make sure you weren’t shooting that night. It was a special event, he added.

He added, but then to attend that event, he use to think what to wear.  Although it may seem strange to admit today, he didn’t have a lot of clothes because they couldn’t afford to buy them. Abhishek said, they were trying to be as frugal as we could be because they were going through a difficult time.

The Dhoom actor said, he didn’t had any formal dress to wear for that event. He then thought it wouldn’t be appropriate to go there in jeans and a T-shirt. So he went and wore the sherwani that was dessigned for his sister’s wedding, Shweta Bachchan, a few years ago, the actor continued.

Abhishek said that JP Dutta’s win for Best Director for Border took place during the same awards ceremony. As the director made his way down the stage, he caught sight of Abhishek. Later, after offering Abhishek refugee status, the director requested him to meet.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Abhishek Bachchan was most recently seen in R Balki’s Ghoomer. The film saw the mixed reviews.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a diamond earring valued at ₹1 lakh, along with ₹35,000 in cash and USD 500 from the residence of actor Poonam Dhillon in Mumbai.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Sameer Ansari, had been hired to paint the actor’s apartment in the Khar area. He worked at the property between December 28, 2024, and January 5, 2025, during which he reportedly took the items from an unlocked cupboard. The arrest took place on Monday.

After the theft, Ansari spent ₹9,000 to host a party for his fellow workers who helped with the painting. The police have since recovered ₹25,000 in cash, the USD 500, and the stolen diamond earring.

The theft was discovered when Poonam’s son, Anmol, returned from Dubai on January 5, leading her manager, Sandesh Chaudhary, to file a police report. Although the actor primarily resides in her Juhu home, her son sometimes stays in the Khar flat. Ansari has been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and further investigations are ongoing.

Manoj Muntashir warns Akshay Kumar’s film Sky Force makers of legal action for not crediting him for writing the song Maaye

Lyricist and screenwriter Manoj Muntashir has expressed his frustration after the Sky Force team failed to credit him as the writer of the upcoming song “Maaye.”

On January 7, Manoj issued a warning to the makers—Jio Studios, Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, and Saregama Global—threatening legal action.

The incident followed the release of the song’s teaser on Jio Studios’ social media, which featured singer B Praak and composer Tanishk Bagchi’s name, but omitted any mention of Manoj. Although he was tagged in the post’s caption, he felt the lack of proper credit was unacceptable.

In his post on X, Manoj stated, “Please note @jiostudios, @MaddockFilms, @saregamaglobal. This song is not just sung and composed; it has also been written by someone who has dedicated immense effort to it. Omitting the writer’s name from the opening credits demonstrates a complete disrespect for the craft and the industry. If this is not rectified immediately, especially with the main song releasing tomorrow, I will disown the song and ensure my concerns are addressed legally. Shame. @IPRSmusic (sic).”

Sky Force, set to premiere on January 24 ahead of Republic Day, stars Akshay Kumar as an Indian Air Force officer seeking vengeance after the loss of several soldiers. The film also marks the debut of Veer Pahariya, who portrays a fellow IAF officer, while Sara Ali Khan plays Veer’s wife. Nimrat Kaur is also part of the cast.

The trailer for Sky Force, featuring Akshay Kumar and debutant Veer Pahariya, was launched at an event in Mumbai on Sunday. Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, the film centers on India’s inaugural and most lethal airstrike during the 1965 India-Pakistan War.

In the film, Akshay Kumar takes on the role of an Indian Air Force officer spearheading the mission, depicted in the trailer as one of the nation’s most perilous operations.

The plot intensifies when Veer Pahariya’s character goes missing during the airstrike, leading Kumar’s character to believe he is stranded in Pakistan, with search efforts seemingly proving futile.

Sara Ali Khan appears as Veer’s love interest, while Nimrat Kaur and Sharad Kelkar play supporting roles. The trailer, shared on social media by Akshay Kumar, includes the tagline: “This Republic Day, witness the untold story of a heroic sacrifice – the tale of India’s first and deadliest airstrike.” Audiences have responded positively, praising the portrayal of military life and the performances teased in the trailer.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Amar Kaushik, and Jyoti Deshpande, Sky Force is set to premiere globally on January 24, 2025, just in time for Republic Day.
