On Saturday night, Bollywood singer Jasleen Royal surprised fans by opening a Coldplay concert at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, enhancing the British rock band’s performance with her unique flair. She commenced the show with a heartfelt rendition of her song “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.”

The highlight of the evening occurred when she joined Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin, for a duet of “We Pray,” a track from their latest album, “Moon Music.” The night was filled with surprises, as Chris Martin infused an Indian essence into the concert. He entertained fans by reading placards from the audience, expressing gratitude with “Shukriya” and exclaiming “Jai Shri Ram,” which elicited enthusiastic applause. Martin even engaged the crowd by inquiring about the meaning of the phrase.

Jasleen took to Instagram to share moments from the evening, posting clips from her performance and rehearsals. Accompanying a snippet with Chris Martin, she expressed her gratitude with the caption, “Thank you Mumbai, I love you.” She dazzled the audience in a shimmering black outfit, complemented by smoky makeup and wavy hair.

The concert, organized by BookMyShow Live, was a sensory delight featuring Coldplay classics like “Fix You” and “A Sky Full of Stars.” In a playful moment, Martin gave a shoutout to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, joking, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage. He says he needs to bowl at me now.” Despite Bumrah’s absence, the mention delighted the audience.

Before the concert, Martin and his partner, actor Dakota Johnson, added a spiritual dimension to their visit by wearing traditional Indian attire during a trip to the Shri Babulnath Temple.

Coldplay’s India tour is set to continue with performances in Mumbai on January 19 and 21, followed by two shows in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26. Additionally, local authorities issued a notice to Chris Martin regarding safety measures, stating that children should not be allowed on stage or into the venue without proper hearing protection, and that sound levels must not exceed 120 decibels.

Salman Khan confirms film with Sanjay Dutt, says after Sikandar, he will do rustic, next-level action

“We kept the ticket prices at 200 rupees for that film, but it didn’t work out well,” he reflected. “For Sikandar, standard prices will apply.”

Bollywood star Salman Khan has announced his upcoming collaboration with Sanjay Dutt for a major action film. The two actors, who previously starred together in hit films like Saajan (1991) and Chal Mere Bhai (2001), discussed their new project during a press interaction in Mumbai on March 27.

Salman stated, “After Sikandar, I am set to do another big film that promises next-level action—specifically a rustic kind of action. I’m excited to work with my older brother in the industry, Sanjay Dutt.”

In addition to this project, Salman confirmed that his collaboration with Tamil director Atlee is currently on hold due to budget constraints. “That’s delayed. The budget is an issue for that film. He (Atlee) has written a very large-scale movie,” he mentioned, adding that the director for the action film with Dutt has yet to be confirmed.

The iconic duo of Salman and Sanjay Dutt gained widespread acclaim for their roles as adoptive brothers in Saajan, which became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s. They also appeared together in the comedy Chal Mere Bhai, directed by David Dhawan.

Recent reports have suggested that the actors might have special appearances in an American thriller filmed in the Middle East.

Salman’s film Sikandar is scheduled for release in theaters on March 30, coinciding with Eid al-Fitr. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie stars Rashmika Mandanna and Tamil actor Sathyaraj. Salman described the film’s narrative as morally uplifting, stating, “Its basic theme is that a king or a noble man will always do good, no matter where he is.”

Addressing recent concerns, Salman Khan spoke out about the death threats he has received from Lawrence Bishnoi, saying, “Bhagwan, Allah, everything is up to him.”

In his recent outings, including Tiger 3 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Salman has embraced his action hero persona. As co-producer of Sikandar, he chose not to set ticket prices at a reduced rate, referencing a negative experience with pricing during the release of Jai Ho (2014). “We kept the ticket prices at 200 rupees for that film, but it didn’t work out well,” he reflected. “For Sikandar, standard prices will apply.”

South Indian superstar Chiyaan Vikram’s much-anticipated film Veera Dheera Sooran has run into legal trouble, resulting in the cancellation of its premiere shows both in India and the United States. The movie, which was scheduled for theatrical release today, March 27, 2025, has now been partially stalled following an interim stay by the Delhi High Court.

Due to ongoing legal issues, early morning screenings of Veera Dheera Sooran have been withdrawn from major multiplex chains including PVR Inox in cities like Hyderabad. Media reports suggest that the film’s producer, Riya Shibu, is actively working to resolve the legal situation. However, no official statement has been released by the filmmakers yet.

Legal row over OTT rights leads to court intervention

According to reports, media company B4U approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the film’s release, claiming that its producer breached an agreement regarding the sale of the film’s OTT rights prior to its theatrical launch. The petition requested the court to delay the film’s release until the dispute with HR Pictures, the production house, is resolved.

Following the court’s intervention, an interim stay was reportedly imposed on the film’s release until 10:30 am on Thursday. In line with the court’s directions, the producer was instructed to immediately deposit ₹7 crore and submit all case-related documents within 48 hours.

The legal tangle has had international repercussions as well. The film’s US premiere shows, which had garnered significant interest among fans, have also been cancelled due to the same legal dispute, according to media sources.

Release clash with big titles

Veera Dheera Sooran was set to clash with multiple high-profile films at the box office, including Salman Khan’s Sikandar and South Indian releases like L2: Empuraan, Robinhood, and Mad 2. With its release now uncertain, fans await clarity on when Vikram’s film will finally hit the screens.

Chiyaan Vikram was last seen in the historical drama Thangalaan, and Veera Dheera Sooran was being widely anticipated as his next major outing.

Sumeet Vyas compares directing for screen vs stage on World Theatre Day

Marking World Theatre Day, Sumeet Vyas speaks about his enduring bond with the stage, the difference in directing for screen and theatre, and why he still chooses theatre despite cinematic fame.

On World Theatre Day, actor Sumeet Vyas opened up about his deep connection with theatre despite his success on screen. Known widely for his breakout role in Permanent Roommates (2014), Sumeet revealed that his journey with acting began much earlier, in 2000, rooted firmly in the world of theatre.

“Theatre is essentially an actor’s medium,” Sumeet said. He explained that while cinema heavily depends on editing and presentation, theatre allows the actor to own the stage. “Once the actor starts performing on stage, he’s pretty much running the show,” he noted, adding that stage gives actors more space to indulge in their craft—something often missing in film.

Despite achieving fame and financial success in cinema, Sumeet continues to return to theatre, a choice not many actors make. He believes the allure of fame and higher pay in the film industry keeps most away from the stage. “But for me, it’s where I grew up,” he said, expressing a personal bond with the medium.

He has also explored directing in theatre, which he finds more intimate than directing on screen. “It’s lighter because there’s less people to deal with. You’re essentially only working on the text and your actors,” he said. Unlike screen projects, which require elaborate setups and long waits for audience feedback, theatre offers immediacy. “You direct something and soon enough, you have a show, and you immediately get a reaction,” he added.

Sumeet’s love for theatre underscores the medium’s enduring impact—even in an age of streaming and mass digital entertainment.
