Pakistani woman shares creepy job interview messages

These messages showed the exploitation and objectification that young women often encounter in their quest for employment in Pakistan.

Adina Hira, a young woman from Pakistan, recently took to social media to share the distressing ordeal she faced while searching for a job as a fresh graduate. Her candid revelations shed light on the pervasive issue of sexual harassment in the workplace, particularly for women in conservative societies.

“In Pakistan, it’s too difficult to be a girl,” Hira lamented in her post, reflecting on her experience responding to a job advertisement on Indeed aimed at fresh graduates. What followed were shocking responses from potential employers, she added.

One hiring manager fearlessly stated that she would need to be ready to cooperate with the boss regarding any activities, with a subsequent vague suggestion that she would have to spend some quality time with her boss.

Another individual named Sadam Bhukari outlined job expectations that went beyond professional duties to include arranging meetings, managing travel arrangements, attending calls, and fulfilling some special and personal tasks for the boss. These messages showed the exploitation and objectification that young women often encounter in their quest for employment in Pakistan.

Hira’s decision to expose these exchanges on social media has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation online. It has not only drawn attention to the systemic challenges women face in workplaces but also catalyzed a crucial dialogue on workplace safety and gender equality. Her bravery in speaking out has given a voice to countless others who have silently endured similar experiences, underscoring the urgent need for workplaces that are safe, respectful, and free from discrimination.

The response to Hira’s revelations underscores the collective demand for accountability and change within Pakistan’s employment landscape. It has galvanized efforts towards creating environments where all individuals, regardless of gender, can pursue their careers free from harassment and intimidation. As discussions continue, Hira’s courage stands as an alert of hope for a future where every individual’s dignity and rights are upheld in the workplace.

BCCI refuses to print Pakistan on Team India’s jersey for Champions trophy

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has ignited a new controversy by rejecting the inclusion of the host nation’s name, ‘Pakistan’, on Team India’s jerseys for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The tournament is set to take place in Pakistan and Dubai, with India playing their games exclusively in Dubai despite Pakistan being the official host.

The decision has not gone down well with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who expressed their displeasure openly. A PCB official, speaking to the news agency IANS under the condition of anonymity, accused the BCCI of intertwining politics with cricket. “BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is detrimental to the spirit of the game. They have consistently refused to travel to Pakistan, and now they resist even the symbolic inclusion of Pakistan’s name on their jersey,” stated the PCB official.

The controversy does not end with the jerseys. Earlier, the BCCI also opted out of sending their captain, Rohit Sharma, to Pakistan for the pre-tournament captains’ meet, which serves as the introductory event of the Champions Trophy.

The PCB had to relent to the BCCI’s demands eventually, allowing the Champions Trophy to adopt a hybrid hosting model. This model lets the Indian team play their matches in Dubai. However, this arrangement also stipulates that the PCB cannot send its team to India for future ICC events, marking a significant standoff in cricket diplomacy between the two nations.

With the Champions Trophy just around the corner, this latest disagreement adds to a series of contentious issues affecting international cricket relations between India and Pakistan, pointing towards a turbulent start to the tournament.
