Shashi Tharoor's response to Chetan Bhagat's two kinds of English tweet leaves Internet in splits

Author Chetan Bhagat and senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor have once again entered into a banter on Twitter. It all started when Chetan Bhagat shared a photo with Shashi Tharoor from an event on Saturday night and captioned it, India has two kinds of English. The first one is The Shashi Tharoor English and another is The Chetan Bhagat English.

Responding to Bhagat’s tweet, Tharoor wrote that it was a pleasure catching up with him at the event. Now how would you say that in Chetan Bhagat English? he said in his witty style. After this, it was surely a delightful moment for their fans.

One of the users commented, one is English with a dictionary and the other without it while another wrote Shashi Tharoor’s English is Reebok and Chetan Bhagat’s English is Rebook.

Here are the tweets

This is not the first time the duo had an entertaining exchange on Twitter. Earlier, Tharoor had complimented Bhagat on a newspaper report on the country’s economy. He said that it was a superb piece by Chetan Bhagat on all that ails our country and what we should do about it. He went on to add that his message is clear and hopes his fans in the government act on it.

To that, an elated Bhagat then put forward a request and asked Tharoor to use some big words to praise him next time, like ones that only he can do. “Superb is nice but a big one would really make my day!” he said.

Soon after this, Tharoor accepted his request and responded in such a way that left the internet in splits. He said it’s clear you are not sesquipedalian nor given to rodomontade. Your ideas are unembellished with tortuous convolutions and expressed without ostentation. I appreciate the limpid perspicacity of today’s column, tweeted Tharoor.

Yogi Adityanath says UP now free of terror, riots, curfew and mafias

Ahead of the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly Election, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that it has put an end to years of rioting and curfews in Gujarat, just as it has in his state, which is now free of riots, curfews, and powerful mafias who have been bulldozed.

Waghodia Assembly is seeing two independent candidates: six-term MLA Madhu Shrivastava and former party leader Dharmendrasinh Waghela. While campaigning in the Waghodia Assembly constituency of Vadodara in Gujarat, Yogi also urged people to vote for the BJP, stating that it is not the independents but a party that forms government.

Yogi also took a dig at the Congress, stating that it supported terrorism while Narendra Modi’s leadership had made the country free of terror and Naxalism.

He said Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are opportunists who question everything. Only the BJP can do this because of the motto to keep the nation first. BJP is the remedy for all ills, he added.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh also criticized Congress for obstructing the country’s religious beliefs, asking, How should faith be revered? Ram Mandir is always being obstructed by Congress, but it is Modi who is laying the foundation. He claimed that the AAP and Congress had played with people’s emotions, religious convictions, and national security.

He stated when former President Rajendra Prasad wanted to join the inauguration of the massive temple, the Congress came in the way. Now, the Ram Mandir is getting ready in Ayodhya, there is the Kashi corridor, the Ujjain Mahakal, the renovation of Dwarkadish, and also the renovation of Kedarnath and Badrinath. This is how the religious beliefs of the new India are being resurrected, he added.
