Veteran actor Tiku Talsania suffered a brain stroke on January 10, as confirmed by his family on Saturday. Following initial reports suggesting he had experienced a heart attack, his wife, Deepti Talsania, clarified the situation. The 70-year-old actor is currently being treated at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.
“He suffered a brain stroke, not a heart attack. He attended a film screening and began feeling unwell around 8 PM, at which point he was promptly admitted to the hospital,” Deepti told to a TV reporter.
Talsania’s condition is reported to be critical. Over his illustrious career, he has appeared in more than 200 films, and his daughter, Shikha Talsania, is also an actress.
In October 2024, Talsania mentioned that he was feeling “slightly jobless” and was actively seeking work. In an interview, he expressed that he was waiting for the right roles to come his way, stating, “Times have changed, and the right kind of roles are not being offered. Unless you become integral to the story or are cast as a character whose narrative intertwines with the plot, work is hard to come by. I am slightly jobless at the moment, but I want to work, and the right opportunities are not materializing.”
Talsania shared that he is open to auditions and recognizes that the industry has changed. “Since COVID-19, the working dynamic has shifted. People are becoming more astute and progressive. I appreciate this new approach to work, and I’m remaining patient. I’m actively seeking opportunities,” he noted.
Some of Talsania’s notable films include Andaz Apna Apna, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, Devdas, Coolie No. 1, Dhamaal, Partner, Phir Hera Pheri, Hungama, Raju Chacha, Hero No. 1, among many others. He was last seen in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, alongside RajKummar Rao and Triptii Dimri.
In addition to his film work, Talsania has appeared in various television shows, gaining acclaim for his comic timing and versatility in portraying diverse characters.
