WhatsApp is one of those platforms that is used by all age groups. Meta-owned WhatsApp doesn’t fail to impress users with its updates and new features. The instant messaging app is working on several features to enhance users’ chatting experience. Recently, WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp feature tracker, claimed that the app is currently working on a new feature that will display a sender’s profile pic in the notification when an iOS user receives a message.

Apart from this, some of its features are already being tested in the app’s beta version. To enhance users’ experience, WhatsApp is rolling out the features which users always wanted it. Do you want to know what are these? Scroll down!

WhatsApp upcoming features 2022

  1. Profile photo to be shown in the notifications

The instant messaging platform is working on a feature that will display users’ profile photo in iOS system alerts when he/she receives a new message from friends or a group.

  1. Read later

WhatsApp may update the Archived Chats feature in the near future, allowing you to read them later. Once a chat has been moved to the read later area, users will no longer receive notifications for messages of that particular chat. There will also be a feature called ‘vacation mode,’ which will make ‘read later’ chats operate similarly to archived chats in the current stable version. Users can modify settings by clicking the edit button. Multiple chats can be unarchived at the same time on WhatsApp.

  1. WhatsApp logout

According to WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new option called logout to replace the ‘Delete Account’ button. Users will be able to log out of their WhatsApp accounts from their phones, just like they can with Facebook and other social media apps. With the new logout option, users may be able to log in to their accounts from multiple devices at once. Both iOS and Android users are likely to receive the WhatsApp logout feature in the near future.

  1. Message Reactions

WhatsApp users will soon be able to reply to messages using photos, just like on Instagram and Facebook. WABetaInfo has revealed a preliminary glimpse of the feature.  Known as message reaction, the function allows users to respond to a message with a total of six emojis.

Message reactions are available in both solo and group chat threads. Users can also enable or disable message reaction notifications using the ‘Reaction Alerts’ option.

  1. Instagram reels on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will let users view Instagram Reels directly from the messaging app. This is reportedly part of WhatsApp’s plan to interface with other Facebook-owned apps.

  1. Last-side hide from specific contacts

WhatsApp is also testing a much-needed feature that would allow users to exclude particular contacts from their ‘last seen’ status. Take note that WhatsApp already has a function that allows you to hide a user’s last seen from their contacts. However, one disadvantage of this feature is that users are unable to monitor the ‘last seen’ status of their contacts.

Thanks to the new last seen functionality, users can hide their last seen details from specific contacts they don’t want to view them, while still being able to check the ‘last seen’ status of everyone else in their contacts. The feature is already available in the app’s beta version, according to reports, and will be released soon.

  1. No time limit for deleting sent messages

On WhatsApp, users can delete messages for up to 4,096 seconds (68 minutes and 16 seconds) after they’ve been sent. According to recent reports, the meta-owned app is currently testing a new feature in a beta version that will permanently remove this limitation.

With the new feature, users will be able to delete sent messages from any point in the past. There is currently no estimated release date for this feature.

At the rear, a connected full-width LED light bar with inverted L-shaped elements gives the SUV a more contemporary appearance.

Additional updates include new dual-tone alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers, and new colour options, collectively giving the XUV 7XO a sharper and more modern road presence.

Google Meet outage disrupts work calls, online classes across India

Google Meet faced a major outage across India, stopping users from joining meetings and prompting widespread complaints on social media.

A major outage hit Google Meet on Wednesday, leaving thousands of users across India unable to join or host video meetings. The disruption forced many to cancel work calls, online classes and scheduled interviews, triggering frustration across offices and campuses.

Users report widespread access issues

According to data from an outage-tracking platform, over 1,700 users reported issues by early afternoon. A majority complained that the website itself was unresponsive, while others flagged server-related problems. A small number reported poor video quality. Many attempting to log in were greeted with a “502, that’s an error” message.

Social media flooded with complaints

Soon after the outage began, social media platform X saw a surge of posts from users seeking clarity on whether the platform had gone down nationwide. People shared screenshots and asked if others were facing similar trouble. Some tagged Google’s India handle, urging a quick fix.

One user wrote humorously that their long- awaited interview had to be cancelled because the platform stopped working. Others noted that only certain members of their organisation were affected, adding to the confusion.

No official response from Google yet

As users debated possible reasons behind the failure, several pointed out recent disruptions across major digital services globally. Google has not yet issued a statement regarding the cause of the outage.

The incident comes barely a week after parts of the internet experienced a massive breakdown linked to Cloudflare, raising concerns over repeated digital service disruptions this month.
