International Yoga Day 2023: Yoga on the move, right inside a Mumbai local

People across the world are celebrating International Yoga Day by doing yoga at public gatherings, inside swimming pools, on hill tops and even in the desert. On the occasion of the 9th International Yoga Day, some passengers in Mumbai local trains were seen doing yoga inside the coaches on Wednesday.

Many comments started coming on the video where one user said such yoga will not help in improving the health of the people. Another user said this hypocrisy by the BJP government at the Centre was shocking as Muslims were reprimanded for praying in public areas. Another user was surprised to see so much space in the Mumbai local trains.

One user wondered if yoga was so helpful, why were patients of diabetes and heart ailments increasing?  Another man said the whole act was staged. Another user said it was being done to catch the other people’s attention. Some others said the video was fake. One user said it was all a cheap publicity stunt. He said public transportation had been designed to transport people from one place to another and not to serve as venue for a cheap display of publicity.

Meanwhile, another video surfaced on Twitter showing passengers and railway staff doing yoga at Mumbai Central Railway Station. They were seen doing the upward salute pose on Wednesday. Diverse comments started coming on Twitter where one person said this was organised drama. Another person said all this demonstration was for one day only after which the people forget the whole thing the next day.

In a similar incident a group of differently-abled people from Raipur, Chattisgarh performed yoga in a stretcher under a make-shift tent. The group flexed their bodies and hands to different yoga asanas as instructed by the trainer. A short video of the event is going viral on Twitter.
