Akshay Kumar is back in the police uniform. The makers of Akshay Kumar-Rakul Preet Singh starrer Cuttputlli which will release on Disney+Hotstar on September 2.

For the unversed, Cuttputlli is the Hindi remake of 2018 Tamil movie Ratsanan. The film featured Vishnu Vishal as the male lead Arun Kumar and Amala Paul as Vijayalakshmi. Both these characters are being played by Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet in the Hindi remake.

The action-thriller is a story of chase, where a police officer tries to capture a serial killer who loved to harass and kill school girls.

The film is being release on the OTT platform and hence finally, Akshay Kumar can expect some good numbers. The actor has given three back-to-back flops and is being criticized for doing too many films in a year and not being committed to either of them.

Akshay started the year with Bacchan Pandey opposite Kriti Sanon which was also the Hindi remake of a South Indian film. However, the movie did not make it to the expectation. Next Akshay came up with YRF’s Prithviraj Chauhan. The movie was not only criticized for not including every facets of the ruler’s life but Akshay was also called out for romancing debutant Manushi Chillar, who’s half of his age.

After that, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Anand L Rai’s Rakshabandhan. The movie clashed with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. However, both the films failed at the Indian box office and will soon make their OTT debut.

On the work front, Akshay will be seen next alongside Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha in Ram Setu, which is slated to release on Diwali 2022. Apart from that, Akshay is also working opposite Radhika Madan in the Hindi remake of Suriya’s National award winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru.

Apart from Radhika and Akshay, Paresh Rawal will reprise his role from the Tamil original. In fact, director Sudha Kongara is also returning to recreate this film. However, the shooting began in April but still no release date has been announced so far.
