Jharkhand election: Amit Shah says BJP will form committee to identify infiltrators if voted to power

With nearly a day left for Jharkhand elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah today announced that a committee would be formed if BJP forms government in the state to identify and drive out infiltrators besides reclaiming land grabbed by them. Addressing a rally at Seraikela, he said that a legislation will also be brought to prevent transfer of land to infiltrators on their marrying tribal women.

Accusing the JMM-led dispensation of patronising Bangladeshi infiltrators, the Home Minister said that the tribal population is declining in Jharkhand. Amit Shah asserted that infiltrators are grabbing land by marrying tribal daughters. He continued that the BJP will bring legislation to prevent transfer of land to infiltrators if they marry tribal women, and will also form a committee to identify infiltrators to drive them out and reclaim land grabbed by them.

Amit Shah further claimed that Champai Soren was insulted when he raised the infiltration issue and was forced to resign from Chief Minister’s post by Hemant Soren. Slamming the JMM-Congress and RJD leaders for only working for personal growth and indulging in corruption, he said that the corrupt leaders of the JMM-led coalition would be sent behind bars if BJP forms government in Jharkhand.

Alleging that the JMM-led dispensation was behind the Rs 1,000 crore MNREGA scam, Rs 300 crore land scam, Rs 1,000 crore mining scam and multi-crore liquor scam and devoured Rs 3.90 lakh crore sent by the Centre, he vowed that once the BJP government is voted to power in the state it will ensure that if the Centre sends rupee one, 25 more paise is added to it by the state so that Rs 1.25 reaches to people.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi while campaigning in Garhwa slammed Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s administration, accusing the ruling JMM, Congress, and Rashtriya Janata Dal of being supporters of Bangladesh infiltrators. He said that the JMM-RJD-Congress government has taken appeasement to its peak, and are destroying the state’s social harmony. He claimed that these parties are supporters of infiltrators. In an attempt to get votes of Bangladesh infiltrators, they are getting them settled across Jharkhand, he remarked.

Chennai doctor stabbed 7 times by son of cancer patient, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin orders inquiry

In a harrowing incident, a Tamil Nadu government doctor was stabbed seven times at a Chennai hospital on Wednesday morning by a young man whose mother was being treated for cancer by the same doctor. The man was also a patient attender at that hospital.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said that the doctor, an oncologist, is also a heart patient and suffered injuries to his upper chest and head. The Minister added that the doctor is in the Intensive Care Unit, or the ICU, but is in stable condition. Reportedly, a senior doctor said that his colleague has a pacemaker and was cut on his forehead and back, as well as behind his ear, and was also hit on his stomach.

The young man who stabbed him has been arrested. The gruesome attack took place in the OPD, or outpatient department, of the Kalaignar Centenary Hospital in the city’s Guindy neighbourhood. The young man reportedly suspected the doctor had prescribed incorrect medication to his mother, a cancer patient.

The 26 years old accused tried to escape after stabbing the doctor but was caught and handed over to the police. He used a small knife hidden on his person, but insisted there was no security lapse, the Health Minister said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister MK Stalin has ordered an inquiry and promised medical aid, as well as providing assurances such an attack won’t happen again. Taking to X, the Chief Minister said that the service of doctors is laudable and it is their responsibility to ensure their safety.

He added that the selfless work of our government doctors in providing treatment to patients regardless of the time is immeasurable. He further assured that the government will take measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

This incident once again questions the safety of healthcare workers at their workplace, an issue that shook the nation after the rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital.

A thick blanket of smog enveloped Delhi and the surrounding regions of Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad on Wednesday morning, resulting in flight diversions.

Nearly 10 flights were diverted, including six to Jaipur and one to Lucknow, since 7 am. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that a Zero-metre visibility was recorded at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at 8.30 am with the Runway Visual Range varying between 125 and 500 metres at different locations.
