The citizens of Delhi woke up to the coldest morning of this season with the minimum temperature recorded at 2.8 degree Celsius at Lodhi road and 3 degrees Celsisu at Safdarjung.
According to the India Meteorological Department, visibility also dropped to a low of 25 metres in Palam and was measured at 50 metres at Safdarjung, the city’s base station.
At 5:30 this morning, Safdarjung observed a visibility of 50 metres.
There will be dense to very dense fog in numerous locations, according to the Regional Meteorological Department of the IMD in Delhi.
The India Meteorological Department reported that cold day to severe cold day conditions at a few sites and cold day conditions at isolated places in Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
According to IMD the visibilities reported at 05:30 IST today, (in m): Jammu 25, Jammu and Kashmir Bhatinda, Punjab: 0; Amritsar, Patiala, 25; Ambala, Chandigarh, & Delhi: 25 each; Safadarjung, 50; Haryana, Chandigarh, & Rajasthan: Ganganagar and Churu 25 Northwest Uttarakhand: Dehradun 200.

When visibility falls below 1,000 metres, fog is classified by the IMD as shallow, as moderate when visibility is between 200 and 500 metres, and as dense when visibility is under 200 metres. When visibility is less than 50 metres, the air is extremely dense.
Up till January 13, Delhi’s AQI is expected to likely remain in the very low category.
IMD stated on Wednesday that during the next three to four days, dense to very dense fog and chilly daytime temperatures are predicted to persist over North-West India.
Cold wave conditions are predicted to prevail across northwest India throughout the next three days, IMD said, adding that thereafter, intensity will drop.
All over North India, visibility has been reduced by the fog.
On Thursday, the Delhi Airport issued a fog caution to all travellers. The Delhi Airport is undergoing low visibility operations, according to the authorities.
The authorities noted that all flight operations are currently normal and asked that travellers seeking updated flight information get in touch with the relevant carrier.
