Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to criticise the Centre over the death of a 60-year-old woman and her daughter during the anti-encroachment drive in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur. Gandhi in his swipe at the Government has said that when the arrogance of power robs the right of the people to live, it is called dictatorship.
The Congress leader in his Tweet also wrote and said that his mind is disturbed after learning about the incident in Kanpur. Gandhi further wrote and said that the bulldozer policy has become a face of cruelty of the government.
The congress leader also wrote that India does not approve of this.

Not only Rahul Gandhi, but his sister and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi came forward to question the government in the same case. Priyanka Gandhi in a Tweet termed the bulldozer incident to be testament to how the BJP Government has become a threat to humanity in the country.

The remark by the former Congress Chief comes in regards to the death of the 44-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter who died after being burnt alive. According to reports, the incident transpired in Kanpur’s Dehat when the anti-encroachment drive came to the village on Tuesday.
According to reports, a fire broke out in the hut while the mother and daughter were inside the hut. Due to the fire, the two victims were charred to death. However, contrary to the reports, the bereaved family of the victim have dismissed the claims of and alleged that the officials set the house on fire while the two women were still inside.
Following the claims by the family, tensions between the villagers and officials also stirred up as the villagers also claimed that they didn’t receive any notice by the authorities about the visit of the eviction drive.
Based on the claim by the family of the deceased, a case was also found against the officials including sub divisional magistrate, station officer, and Lekhpal.
The Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also chimed in to promise the family of the victims that the government will help them and take strict actions against the culprits as well.
