[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]After over two months of hectic campaigning, exit polls have predicted a second innings for the NDA, and the UPA and Others are lagging behind. APN’s popular debate Mudda discussed the exit polls results and the likely political scenarios in the coming days. Anchorperson Akshay posed the questions to panellists, including the Congress’s Kishore Upadhyay, BJP’s Anita Aggarwal, SP’s Dan Bahadur Madhur, Bhartaiya Samaj Party’s Piyush Mishra and APNconsultant Govind Pant Raju.
Upadhyay said: “Let’s wait for the results. There are many pressures at play even for the exit poll orgainsers. I have suggested that the EVM system should be discontinued. I think if BJP indeed wins, it will be because of some other issues.”
Agarwal said: “Modi has worked round the clock and Amit Shah has made sure that the right message is sent to all. Electricity has reached every village, and people in all corners of the country wanted Modi to come back because of the development work undertaken by the government. EVM was introduced when the Congress was in centre. When BJP wins, Congress blames it on EVMs.”
Dan Bahadur said: “Exit polls are just an indication and that may not be the reality, this system is not reliable. Exit polls of different channels are predicting different results. We believe our alliance will get over 70 seats in UP.”
Mishra said: “I find the exit polls confusing. Let’s wait for the final results. You can’t ignore SP-BSP.”
Raju said: “Exit poll results have varied only on some numbers, but by and large all they are predicting that BJP and allies are set to come back. Congress has not been able to stand up to BJP.”
Kishore Upadhyay said: “How can you leave out Gujarat in any discussion regarding BJP’s performance? See how the different institutions have been twisted to suit ruling party interest. I think exit polls should be renamed NEP (Narendra Modi Exit Polls). What is needed is that the EVM system should be changed.”
Dan Bahadur said: “I stick to what I said that our alliance will get over 70 seats in UP. Election Commission and media should also be looking into the EVM issue.”
Akshay asked him about Akhilesh meeting with Mayawati. Dan Bahadur said: “Our party is waiting for the final result.”
Akshay asked Agarwal on EVM. She said: “Earlier counting would take place over two-three days. Now we make use of the latest technology. People have voted, we have worked hard, so why this fuss now?”
Raju said: “Rahul Gandhi had said that he is determined to work for Congress revival. But the ground reality is such that Congress needs to go a long way to fix its house in order.”
Kishore Upadhyay said: “Wait for May 23 to get the clear picture.”
Agarwal said:”They are all getting impatient, and are looking for excuses. We have believed in Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas. We will get 74 plus seats in UP.”
Raju said:”I don’t think it is right to blame it on EVM fudging. There should have been a viable alternative in front of the nation…that was missing, there was no common minimum programme offered by the non-BJP parties, and so the challenge to BJP was weak.’
