Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid has explained that why Dinesh Karthik will be in focus during 5 matches T20I series against South Africa. The first match of the series will be held in Delhi’s Arun Jaitely stadium at 7 pm.
Talking to the reporters, Dravid admitted that the team India selectors will be looking at Karthik’s performance with the bat closely. It is pretty obvious and very clear and Karthik has made a comeback based on the skills that he has shown in IPL, he said.
Dravid also said that the phase of the game that Dinesh, at the back-end, has really been able to show skills over the last 2-3 years. He has been able to be a point of difference for whichever team that he has played, he said.
Karthik has been picked to bat in that kind of position, and see whether he can replicate those kind of performance for India as well, Dravid also said.
Speaking on the absence of senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the series, Dravid said that it is unrealistic to think that senior players will be available every time for every game.

Dinesh Karthik, who have started cricket commentary and looking forward for his career in the same, has made a strong comeback in IPL and played some match winning knocks for his franchise.
Playing for his franchise the RCB, Karthik has played finisher’s role in the recently concluded 15th season of IPL and scored 330 runs in 16 matches at a strike-rate of 183.33.
Courtesy that performance, the wicket-keeper batter has made a comeback into the squad. He had last played for India in the 2019 ICC World Cup, which was held in New Zealand and England.
The T20I series against South Africa will be a massive opportunity for Karthik as Team India is looking for best playing XI combination ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia in October. As the team is looking for a finisher after MS Dhoni, the batter has been fit for his role in team India.
The series will also be a golden opportunity for the youngsters like Umran Mallik, Deepak Hooda and Arshdeep Singh.
