Raj Kundra, others raided by ED in pornography-linked money laundering case

Kundra claimed in the plea that he is being made a “scapegoat” for reasons best known to investigators.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted raids at the premises of Raj Kundra, a businessman and husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation linked to the alleged distribution of pornographic and adult films.

According to reports indicate that around 15 locations in Mumbai and some cities in Uttar Pradesh, including Kundra’s home and office, are being investigated.

Kundra is reportedly being questioned by the probe agency at one of the search locations. This money laundering case, which began in May 2022, stems from at least two FIRs and chargesheets filed by the Mumbai police against Kundra and others. He, along with others, was arrested in connection with the case but was subsequently granted bail.

This marks the second money laundering case against Kundra. Earlier this year, the ED seized assets worth Rs 98 crore belonging to Kundra and Shetty in a cryptocurrency investigation. However, the couple received relief from the Bombay High Court regarding this asset attachment.

In 2021, Kundra had told a local court in Mumbai that there was not even an iota of evidence with the prosecution (Mumbai Police) that would connect the app ‘Hotshots’, used in the alleged porn films racket, with an offence under the law.

But, the ED found that the ‘Hotshots’ app was being used by accused persons for uploading and streaming obscene content.

The businessman had refused his involvement in the creation of alleged porn content and he had claimed that he was falsely implicated and was not even named in the FIR and was dragged by the respondent (police) in the case.

Kundra claimed in the plea that he is being made a “scapegoat” for reasons best known to investigators.

The police had filed FIRs on the basis of complaints received from two women, while another woman had submitted a complaint at the Lonavla police station, around 120 km from Mumbai.

Singer Armaan Malik and influencer Aashna Shroff have begun 2025 in the most enchanting way, celebrating their wedding in an intimate, fairytale-like ceremony. Their love story, paired with their impeccable fashion choices, captured the attention of fans and fashion enthusiasts alike.

The couple’s New Year surprise sent waves of joy through social media as they tied the knot, marking a new chapter in their lives. Among the many highlights of the ceremony, Aashna’s bridal attire stood out as a refreshing departure from traditional bridal norms. Instead of opting for the conventional reds or soft pastels, Aashna chose a stunning orange lehenga by renowned designer Manish Malhotra. The vibrant hue not only set her apart but also made a bold fashion statement that is expected to influence bridal trends in the months ahead.

The lehenga, with its intricate gold-toned embroidery, showcased Manish Malhotra’s signature design aesthetics and embraced a perfect blend of tradition and contemporary elegance. Aashna’s bridal look was further elevated by a double dupatta ensemble: one in orange draped over her shoulder, and the other, a contrasting pastel peach, placed delicately on her head. This distinctive pairing added a unique charm to her overall appearance.

In a beautiful departure from tradition, Aashna chose pastel peach bangles over the usual chooda, adding a fresh twist to her bridal accessories. Complementing her radiant look, she wore polki jewelry, soft nude makeup, and a sleek bun, keeping her style authentic and graceful.

Armaan Malik’s wedding attire was just as thoughtful. The singer opted for a peach-colored sherwani, also by Manish Malhotra, which perfectly complemented Aashna’s outfit. The self-embroidered details on his sherwani added an elegant touch to his look, ensuring the couple’s fashion choices were harmonious and striking.

Together, Armaan and Aashna made a stunning statement with their wedding fashion, creating unforgettable memories that will be remembered for years to come.

KGF star Yash has appealed to his fans to refrain from extravagant displays and large gatherings for his birthday on January 8, emphasising the need to “change our language of love.”

In an Instagram post, the 38-year-old actor expressed his wishes for fans as the New Year approaches and remarked that this is a time for reflection, resolution, and planning for the future.

“The love you all have shown me over the years has been truly remarkable, but there have also been some unfortunate incidents,” Yash stated. “It’s time for us to redefine our expression of love, particularly regarding my birthday celebrations. Instead of grand gestures and gatherings, the most meaningful gift to me is knowing that you are safe, setting positive examples, accomplishing your goals, and spreading happiness.”

He also mentioned that he would be busy and unavailable on his birthday. Earlier this year, a tragic incident led to the deaths of three fans while they were putting up a large cutout of Yash, prompting him to call for safer celebrations then as well.

Currently, Yash is filming “Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-ups,” a project he is co-producing with Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, with Geetu Mohandas as the director.

At a very young age, he began his career as an assistant director on a film project. However, just two days into shooting, the project was unexpectedly put on hold, leaving him in a challenging situation. Following this setback, Yash received guidance to enhance his acting skills by joining the Karanth theatre. He became a member of the Benaka Drama Troupe, earning Rs 50 a day while working backstage. During this time, he took on various tasks, from serving tea to fulfilling other roles.

Yash managed to balance his theatrical work with his education, enrolling at KLE College in Bangalore to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree. After spending years as a backup actor on stage, he finally received his big break in the television series Nanda Gokula, where he starred alongside his future wife, Radhika Pandit.

Following his success on television, Yash made his debut in the Kannada film industry with Jambada Hudugi. He went on to appear in several successful films, including Moggina Manasu, Drama, Googly, Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari, and Masterpiece. However, it was the KGF franchise that truly propelled him into the realm of superstardom.

Diljit Dosanjh faces legal scrutiny over controversial songs at Ludhiana concert

Published

on

Diljit

Popular singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s New Year’s Eve concert in Ludhiana has sparked legal action following a complaint over the performance of songs alleged to promote alcohol. The controversy arises from a formal complaint by Punditrao Dharenavar, a Chandigarh-based assistant professor, who has long criticized such tracks for their negative social impact.

The Deputy Director of the Women and Child Department of Punjab issued a notice to Ludhiana’s District Commissioner, urging action against the inclusion of songs like Patiala Peg, 5 Tara Theke, and Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya) in Dosanjh’s performance. The complaint emphasizes the detrimental influence of these tracks, particularly on younger audiences, and references prior warnings issued to Dosanjh by various commissions.

Court directives ignored?

The controversy also brings attention to a 2019 Punjab and Haryana High Court ruling that prohibits the performance of songs glorifying alcohol, drugs, or violence at public events. Dharenavar pointed out that despite earlier advisories, Dosanjh has continued performing such tracks, albeit with modified lyrics.

The complainant has threatened to escalate the matter to the High Court if the Ludhiana concert proceeds without addressing these concerns. He also criticized Dosanjh for wearing a traditional pagadi while performing songs that, in his view, conflict with the values it represents.

A finale mired in controversy

The Ludhiana concert was a last-minute addition to Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati India Tour, which originally was set to conclude in Guwahati. Announced just a week before the event, the Ludhiana show sold out within minutes, underscoring Dosanjh’s immense popularity.

However, this isn’t the first time Dosanjh’s performances have drawn scrutiny. In November, he faced legal notices during concerts in Hyderabad and Indore for similar reasons. While Hyderabad authorities raised objections to his song lyrics, Dosanjh had to address allegations of black-market ticket sales in Indore.

Promises and public discourse

Earlier in the year, during a concert in Ahmedabad, Dosanjh addressed the recurring criticism of his alcohol-themed songs. He declared that he would stop singing about alcohol if the Indian government implemented a nationwide ban on liquor. “If all states declare themselves as dry states, I promise I won’t sing about alcohol ever again,” he had said, drawing mixed reactions from fans and critics alike.

A successful but contentious tour

Despite these challenges, Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati India Tour has been a resounding success. The three-month series of performances has seen sold-out venues across the country, cementing his status as one of India’s most popular entertainers. However, the ongoing controversy over his lyrics highlights the complex intersection of artistic freedom, cultural values, and legal accountability in modern Indian entertainment.
