A horrific incident has come to light at a government school in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli. A 14-year-old boy was brutally thrashed by a teacher at Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Inter College just because he reached 5 minutes late to school.
The incident is from Mundet village in the Adarsh Mandi area of Shamli police station. The student, identified as Deval Kashyap, was on leave for over 18 days because he was ill. When he resumed his classes on August 29, he was five minutes late, and his teacher reportedly brutally thrashed him in a fit of rage. The victim suffered serious injuries, including fractures on both his legs.
The family members of the student alleged that when their son reached the school the next day, he was late by five minutes. Due to this, the school principal, Sudhir Kumar Rana, stopped him in the field and beat him mercilessly with a stick.

The victim’s father, Bablu Kashyap, complained to the police. However, no action was taken against the teacher. On Wednesday, Bablu approached the district magistrate, alleging inaction by police in this matter and demanding action against the teacher. The child’s mother, Shiksha Devi, said that the DM, Shamli Jasjeet Kaur, has assured us of justice in the matter.
The school had removed the child’s name from the records because of his extended absence, which infuriated his parents. A probe into the situation is being conducted.
However, this is not the first case of Sudhir Kumar Rana, Principal of Inter College. It is being told that even before this, the principal has similarly assaulted many students. Many of them also had serious injuries. Despite this, no action was taken against the principal. At present, the matter of assault on Deval has reached the District Magistrate where the family has expressed the hope that action will be taken against the teacher.
