As we already know, the 14th of November is observed as Children’s Day in India. It is regarded as a special day in India as it commemorates the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Pt. Earlier, in India Children’s Day was celebrated on 20th November (the date observed as Universal Children’s Day by the United Nations) but after his demise, the Indian Parliament passed a resolution that Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth date will now be celebrated as Children’s Day because he was fond of children. The significance of this day is to increase awareness of the rights, care and education of children.

Essay 1
Children’s Day is the most auspicious day in the life of every child. In India, Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He loved children dearly and is fondly remembered as Chacha Nehru by them. After his death in 1964, his birthday was declared as Children’s Day nationwide.

Pandit Nehru was very fond of kids and advocated children’s education as he strongly believed that they were the future leaders of the nation. He was a strong believer in instilling rich moral virtues in children. He was of the opinion that children should be moulded from a young age properly so that they can become productive and responsible citizens of the country.

On this special day, most schools across the country celebrate it by organising socio-cultural programmes for children. Some of the events include poetry, recitation, fancy dress competition, singing and dancing events, skits and plays for children. Besides refreshments, kids are also gifted toys, clothes, stationery, chocolates, toffees and other interesting goodies. Sometimes, they also watch child-friendly films and shows.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Class 10 results for 2026, along with key guidelines for students who wish to appear in the second board examination under the newly introduced two-exam policy.

As per the updated system aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students now have an opportunity to improve their performance in selected subjects through a second exam scheduled later in the same academic year.

Who is eligible for second board exam

CBSE has laid down specific conditions for students to appear in the second board examination:

  • It is mandatory for students to appear in the first board exam
  • Students must have appeared in at least three subjects in the main exam
  • Those who have passed can opt for improvement in up to three subjects
  • Students in the compartment category are also eligible to appear
  • Improvement is allowed only in subjects already taken in the first exam

The second exam allows students to improve marks in subjects such as Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and languages.

Who is not eligible

Certain categories of students will not be allowed to appear in the second board exam:

  • Students who did not appear in three or more subjects
  • Those who failed in three or more subjects
  • Students placed in specific non-eligible categories by the board

Such students will have to reappear in the next main examination cycle instead.

As per the latest updates, Class 10 results are likely to be declared before the last week of April, while Class 12 results may follow by the second week of May. The earlier timeline is being considered due to the introduction of a second examination phase scheduled in May this year.

Over 40 lakh students await results

The CBSE board exams for 2026 began on February 17. Class 10 exams concluded on March 11, while Class 12 exams ended on April 10.
