Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has firmly stated that Iran would not yield to external pressures, issuing a stark warning to US President Donald Trump regarding potential military intervention.
In a televised address on Wednesday, Khamenei declared that any American armed involvement would lead to significant and irreversible consequences for the US. This statement follows Trump’s recent demand for Iran’s “unconditional surrender” in light of its ongoing tensions with Israel.
Khamenei emphasized Iran’s resilience against what he described as an “imposed war.” He remarked, “Wise individuals familiar with Iran and its history understand that this nation does not respond to threats. The Iranian nation will not surrender, and should the U.S. choose military action, it will face irreparable damage.”
Reiterating his warnings to Israel, which he termed the “terrorist Zionist regime,” Khamenei asserted that peace or conflict could not be forced upon Iran.
“The Iranian nation will stand resolutely against both imposed war and imposed peace, demonstrating unwavering resistance to any attempts at coercion,” he stated, undeterred despite recent losses of key military and security officials due to Israeli strikes. Although the US has yet to play a direct role in Israel’s military initiative, dubbed ‘Rising Lion,’ aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear capabilities, Trump has signaled a growing impatience with the situation.
In his statements seeking Iran’s unconditional capitulation, Trump remarked that the US possesses knowledge of Khamenei’s whereabouts but has no immediate plans to target him. “He is an easy target, but is safe there,” Trump posted on Truth Social, adding, “We are not going to take him out-at least not for now.”
These remarks coincided with Trump’s early departure from the G7 Summit in Canada, stirring speculation regarding possible US military engagement in the ongoing conflict.
Amid these tensions, missile exchanges between Israel and Iran entered their sixth consecutive day, resulting in over 600 casualties, with Iran incurring the majority of the losses-585 reported dead according to Iranian health officials.
Earlier on Wednesday, Iran announced it had launched its Fattah-1 hypersonic missile at Israel-the first use of such weaponry in the current conflict. In response, explosions were reported in Tel Aviv, where Israeli sources indicated that the Iranian attacks had resulted in 24 fatalities and over 1,300 injuries. Israeli military actions on Wednesday predominantly targeted sites in Tehran.
Meanwhile, a Wall Street Journal report said Israel is set to rapidly deplete its stock of long-range missile interceptors.
